Okay, so let’s sum up 2016 – the toughest year ever. To say this year was “trying” would be an understatement of note. In a nutshell, I travelled to the greatest city on earth, I started on a new career path, and I lost a friend. Those three things have changed my life forever. I don’t usually write posts like this, but I’ve read a few bloggers lately have been opening up – and I was inspired.
2016, however tough it was, taught me UNDENIABLE lessons, which I have heard loud and clear! I mean, yes, there’s the big ones like how we need to work together to conserve our dying planet, the need to save as much water as we can now before it is too late, how we have got to work towards a plan for world peace and stop so many people going to bed hungry at night. But it’s the personal hits I took this year that have motivated me to make changes in the new year.
I think the idea of setting ‘New Year’s’ resolutions is highly old fashioned, but I like the idea of starting a-new at the beginning of a calendar year. I hate the idea of setting your bar so high at the beginning of the year, only to let yourself down after having made unreal expectations – but yes, of course we all want to join a gym (and actually go), write more, plan to eat healthy (and stick to it) and live more each day (although work seems to get in the way).
So this year, I’m doing things differently! I’m working on my soul. I think the goals for the new year are very simple:
Be Grateful.
For life, for family, for friends and for health.
Be Kind.
To people, to animals and most importantly – to yourself.
Be Humble.
Remember where you came from, work towards where you are going and be thankful along the way.
Be True.
To everyone. Always.
Stay golden, and bring on 2017!
