YOURS TRULY is a one of those places that have the charm of a small cafe, but filled with the energy of the big city, and definitely known as one of the favourite (not so) hidden gems of Cape Town. Three of the cities trendiest streets are decorated with the fresh, hip, clean decor of the cafe and bar group. I’m currently obsessing over the Kloof Street branch as my meeting place of the moment.
Situated in one of my top Cape Town hotspots, the cafe by day is shrouded in a leafy canopy of lanky Jacaranda trees, and a clear af-dak with the cutest ferns and hanging baskets. Yet another Instagram paradise.
The menu is littered with ‘Design Your Own’ options, where you pick your staple – either a bread, a wrap or pizza base – and add the toppings of your choice. And the choices are endless. The last time I visited, I created a two cheese, avo and olive tapende vibe, on a freshly baked ciabatta (#treatyoself) and my meeting partner chose a roast veg, basil pesto and danish feta mix, also on ciabatta. A half-half swap was inevitable. They also serve what has been described as Cape Town’s ‘meanest coffee’? I’ve had an iced-latte there once, and it was definitely something interesting, strong and heavy roasted. Although, not being much of a coffee fan anymore, but they do serve a piping hot, traditional Indian Spiced Chai latte, which had my name all over it.
There seems to be a constant mix of young travelers and freelance workers around YOURS TRULY on a daily basis. The background music is just set at the right level to keep you in a working mood, while the excited chatter of young explorers is always a great backdrop to listen to while being creative. The cafe is also based on the bottom story of one of Cape Town’s coolest backpacking hostels, Once In Cape Town, so there is no shortage of people to fill those communal tables. Pretty much my work space away from home. And did I mention they have the best slogan – Same time tomorrow. Winner.
Follow them on social: Website, Facebook or Instagram for updates or call 021 426 2587 to chat to the team at the 73 Kloof Street, Gardens, Cape Town restaurant. They don’t take bookings, but if you get there early, they will try make a plan for you. You can check out the menu here! There are also Long Street and Loop Street branches. They are open between 6:00am – 11:00pm daily. There is a limited amount of parking around the area, but there is a great underground parking under the Wellness Warehouse centre. Just remember to tip your car guards if you park on the street.
