REVIEW: LIVE BAIT MUIZENBERG

In recent years, Muizenberg has fast become a foodie hangout in the Southern Suburbs, with the Harbour House Group staking their claim in this prime restaurant real estate on Surfer’s Corner. Live Bait sits pretty on the iconic Muizenberg Beach front, with the views looking onto the long stretch of beach full of surfers. Enjoy lengthily, boozy lunches with the sea air blowing, or romantic dinners tucked away in the booths. The welcoming atmosphere will make you feel at home with the rustic, beach cottage decor just waiting to for you to snap that perfect Instagram picture.

We were asked by our favourite local foodies team, InstaEatsCapeTown to be involved with this years #InstaEatsWinterWarmers roll out, where we visit some of Cape Town’s most popular spots and try our the favourites off the winter menus.

For a ‘seafood’ restaurant, I was honestly surprised at the amount of vegetarian options the menu offered. While browsing my choices, I felt there was so much I could enjoy, it was hard to finally make my choices. The Spinach & Feta Croquettes, served with a Green (Salsa Verde type) Sauce caught my eye to kick off the meal, with the gents ordering the Fish Goujons in Parmesan Crumbs.

I was feeling like a good, hearty main so I went for the Green Linguine served with a heavy helping of homemade Basil Pesto, crispy Green Beans, Roasted Baby Potatoes & topped with Parmesan cheese, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. This may have been one of the best pesto pasta’s I’ve had in a restaurant. I was wow’ed by the portion size, and the amount of (beautifully made) pesto used. Absolutely delicious! I felt a bit like a piggy finishing the whole bowl, but I actually couldn’t stop eating. The rest of the table ordered a Sushi Platter for One and The Line Fish of the Day special to share. Can you believe I didn’t order sushi? No, me neither. I had serious FOMO.

Dessert may have just been the best part of the whole meal, although it was a tough call. We ordered Creme Brulee (a MUST!) and the Cheesecake which were both served straight out of sweet-tooth Heaven. Perfection.
