Goes out without lipstick for the first time ever. Sees girl across the room wearing bright red lipstick. Automatically feels jealous, and totally under-dressed for the occasion. Every time. Am I right?
I’m a HUGE fan of red lips. You’d think after being forced to wear it for yeeaarrss for a job, I would have thrown in the towel and run the opposite direction?! Like the creature of habit that I am, I have stuck with my standard one ‘favourite’ product, ol’ trusty, but slowly I am trying to branch out to try other brands, shades and textures and feeling like I’m breaking ground with my discoveries.
You know a woman means business when she puts on red lipstick. What’s your style? Are you more of a dry, long-stay and matte kinda girl, or do you prefer a sleek product that stays fresh and glossy? I usually prefer buying the matte’er styled lipsticks, as I feel they are known to stay on longer (and very little annoys me more with make up than lipstick you have to reapply every 20mins, or after each bite of food, grrr)
I do love the colour of the Scarlet of the Hydro Lipstick Range from Woolworths, and how soft my lips felt after I removed the product! I enjoyed the orange undertones coming through (I usually steer towards the bluer hues when it comes to reds). Easy to apply, smooth and sleek (almost felt like a lip-balm rather than lipstick?) throughout wearing and had a great smell too. Not kiss proof, so beware of that. I wouldn’t say that it’s a long lasting product, but I applied it before I went out, and only had to apply again around 2 hours later after a drink. I was very happy it didn’t cake while applied, and reapplied, which I find happens with a matte product.
Overall, I really enjoyed this. Good, fun product for a girls night out. In hindsight, I would have liked to have tested this product out with a lip liner, but I didn’t have a matching shade at the time. I think this would have finished the look off, as the lipstick was a little soft on the edges (where I find a matte’er product gives harder outlines).
The beloved Audrey Hepburn said, ‘There is a shade of red for every woman’. I have certainly added this shade to my summer collection! These Woolworths Hydro Lipsticks comes in 25 various, on-trends shades. Shop the range here.
