Yell’oh On The Rocks is a great new addition to the Liefmans family. Fruity, bold and flavourful, this little bad boy is an excellent summer drink. Perfectly suited for that sun-downer on a deck somewhere beautiful, or around a roaring braai with your favourite people. Serve chilled, over ice and enjoy with friends. Cheers!
You may recognize the brand name from their other products – most famously in Cape Town: the stunning berry mix, Fruitesse, which is available at Den Anker and Mitchell’s in the V&A Waterfront, amoung other places.
As recommended, I served my Yell’oh on the rocks – and enjoyed every gorgeous, fruity sip. I found the beer fairly heavy (each sip was a mouthful) but in a good way. The strongest flavours that pull through are definitely the pineapple and lime (zest?), with the hints of apple and elderflower coming through subtly after the first sip. Didn’t find the basil to be a strong flavour, although, it was there in the after taste. I did enjoy with a loved one, but next time – I won’t be sharing 😉
Although not a light beer, at 100 calories, it’s a delicious alternative to your average, standard alco-pops. Sweet and delicious, you’ll definitely see me enjoying these more often. Beer my Valentine, like, every day?
