Item One: A Cheery Disposition – Check! Item Two: Rosy Cheeks. Now, I can say – Check! The Essence Silky Touch Blush in ‘Secret It-Girl’ has become part of my daily make up regimen – and I’ll never look back to a time before adding a swish-swish-swish of blush to my cheeks to give me that alive, fresh & healthy complexion!
I still feel that learning to be a girly-girl – I got my first make-up brush set in December (before that I was a make-up with finger kinda girl – the shame of it all) and I feel that blush is one of those really girly-girl products. A couple of years ago, I tested my rouge-footing with a super Barbie-pink blush by le cheapo unnameable drug store brand, because that was acceptable then. And the bright pink just wasn’t for me or my very pale complexion. I resembled something of a porcelain doll – but those kinds from the scary movies. I’d go out feeling great, feeling good with my seemingly naturally rosy cheeks, and as soon as my natural flush joined the make-up – I looked as though I’d spent a day in the African sun. Not a good look overall. But I’ve since learnt my lesson.
So, I am really delayed with this post. This sweet little mini-package was delivered to me before Christmas – yes, literary last year – and I haven’t had the time to right about it yet (Why I’ve been so busy will come up in a story time session in the next blog). But I’ve been using this now for a good couple of weeks – and I’m totally sold.
On a swatch, the product picks up easily, and you can see that peachy pigment coming through. Nice and easy to apply, and builds up easily for a darker shade. The product is also scarily long lasting – even without a fixing spray. As the silky, shimmery product is super light-weight and almost sheer, you can build up the product if you need to for a bold cheek, or just dust over the apples of your cheeks for a more natural look. I really love this warm tone, as you can wear it any time of day, with any style of make up – because it really matches well, and blends in with everything. And it’s really affordable – so win win all round!
Both Dischem and Clicks online stores seem to be out of stock of this at the moment, but I have found a close alternative that has rave reviews. Going to have to give this Essence Matt Touch Blush No 10 in Peach Me Up a try – at R54.95, it’s a steal!
Any down side to this product? Apart from not being able to replace it (as they have seemed to discontinue it) Not a massive fan of the packaging – I do feel that a lot of the other product has a sleeker finished look than this, and the compact press design is a bit ‘childish’ or ‘young’ but it’s easy enough to look over those things. And anyway, do we judge a product by how it arrives on the stage or how it performs?
