‘All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.’ – John Gunther
Sit under a canopy of shady trees at Kuka Café, in one of the most beautiful parts of our country. The Lowveld in Mpumalanga has to be one of my favourite places to travel to in South Africa – for many reasons, but this year, it’s been some good food and great birding!
Kuka Cafe is situated at Perry’s Bridge Trading Post (which is somewhere I have actually visited with my family a few times to have a walk around and grab a snack to sustain us on the trip into the Kruger, but I had never had to the time to stop and enjoy the full restaurant experience of Kuka). They are all about great food meets café culture and the slogan couldn’t be more spot on.
Sitting down with a piping hot pot of Earl Grey tea (a treat in the Lowveld!), it took me almost a whole cup to decide what breakfast delight I was going to have off their elaborate ‘Something Healthy’ and ‘Smoothie’ menus. You can’t go wrong with the classic Smashed Avo on Toast! I just swapped my poached eggs out for some mushrooms and it was delicious! The two Banters I had breakfast with picked some tasty #CarbFree meals too.
