When you find a new place that blows your socks off… Absolutely OBSESSED with this awesome NEW Cape Town Hotspot spot that we have recently visited, Osetra Kalk Bay. Situated right in the heart of the beloved Kalk Bay, Osetra is serving you worldclass sushi in every shape and form. Guys – the vegetarian sushi options are insane! Platters and variety – exactly what we’re looking for in a sushi restaurant.
Gustav and I celebrated our 6-Year Anniversary at a nice, relaxed dinner in our favourite place (Kalk Bay, where we met and fell in love *insert ahhhhh sound here*) – and to say we where blown away is the best way to describe our visit.
Something we are finding that is coming up more often is that there’s a ‘secret vegetarian or vegan menu’ in restaurants – what’s up with that? If you have the food on offer, don’t make us ask for it – right? Well, I didn’t find that at all at Oestra Kalk Bay! They had so much for us to choose from, it was quite amazing. The waiter, Lee, was knowledgeable and offered changes we hadn’t thought of.
We visited during the half price (12-7 daily**) and ordered WAY too much food (the pieces are BIG so beware) & too many cocktails (the cocktails are sweeter than usual, so keep that in mind if you don’t have a sweet tooth) but left paying a very reasonable amount. So, definitely will be visiting again soon!
** UPDATE: Please note that this special is no longer running. We have since visited again and the menu has changed, and prices have upped slightly from our first visit, the prices are still incredibly reasonable and the service was as excellent as the first time we have visited. Well done team! Big shout out to Lee, Debbie and Dali who have served us on visits.
Find Oestra Kalk Bay at 122 Main Road, Kalk Bay, Cape Town. Call ahead to reserve your table on +21 ()021 788 3680. Although booking isn’t essential for a smaller table, should you wish to reserve the restaurant or a larger table, you will need to call ahead. There is a fair amount of parking right around the venue. Although I would say that the venue seems to be crutches friendly, we are not too sure about the location being wheelchair friendly as there isn’t a parking right outside the door, nor a specialneeds bathrooom on the ground floor (We stand to be corrected, so if you know otherwise, please let us know!)
