And so it begins. ‘Home Sweet Home’ for the next good couple of weeks. Today marks the beginning of the South African National Lockdown to help #FlattenTheCurve of the SARS Coronavirus or “COVID-19”.
We aren’t sure how long life is going to be like this for but we certainly should look to as many positives as we can. Like most of the world, South Africans have been asked / ordered to stay at home (and only leave for emergencies and to go to the shops for supplies) for the time being to stop the spread of the airborne virus.
For the foreseeable future (currently, they have asked us to stay home for 21 days, but we are expecting it to be than that), we won’t be allowed to see our friends of families and some of the more ‘luxurious problems / struggles” are that we cannot buy alcohol & cigarettes or travel, eat out at restaurants or get take-aways.
Today, we woke up feeling incredibly grateful for the roof over our heads, the solid walls around us, the food in our fridge and being able to be quarantined with someone. We’re also very grateful that we both already work from home, so this is one less thing we need to learn to do.
Before you complain about the situation we are finding ourselves in, just remember that not everyone has the comforts that you do. be kind with your words online, helps those in need, check up on your loved ones often – and for the love of this country – stay home!
Sending love and social-distancing approved hugs out to all. We got this!
Stay home, stay safe, stay golden x
