Hamilton’s has become a well known and loved lodge and restaurant in Malelane, Mpumalanga. Family owned and managed by Trevor and Debbie Tod, this lovely designation is just effect for anyone looking for that perfect position near the Kruger National Park, weather you’re going on, coming out or passing by. And it’s the perfect little place to wine and dine on the edge of the park.
Situated right at the Malelane Gate to the Kruger National Park, well within walking distance to the edge of the park, Hamilton’s Lodge and Restaurant is super convenient if you’re looking to head into the Kruger as the gates open, or are battling to find accommodation at SANParks rest camps through out the reserve.
Baked Camembert in phyllo pastry with a tart Cranberry Sauce – just heavenly! Being about half a round of cheese, the portion is great for a starter or a more savoury dessert, if that’s your thing. I loved the light, baked pastry which was a nice change up from the usual, traditional crumbed and deep fried version that I also love. Just so light and easy going for a summery afternoon snack.
Our lunch was really fun as the whole table did a ‘Build your Own’ Pizza! I basically had the Vegetarian Pizza off the menu with some changes. They are also super well-known for their prawns! The locals rave about them! And we have heard you can pick up some takeaways on the way into the park which is always an awesome tip, as there isn’t much else around there if you have forgotten to pick up snacks.
Needless to say, after all that delicious food, we skipped out on dinner at home! Definitely needing to head back there soon
